Lambskin Care

Springtime and PEP brand genuine lambskin products are crafted with pride. Our quality is our reputation. You will be able to enjoy your genuine lambskin wool products for many years, provided you follow the care instructions detailed below.

Your carefully selected genuine lambskin products, especially bed pad, rug, may have been tightly packaged for shipping and so the wool may appear flattened. Wool fibres are very resilient and will bounce back to their original springy appearance.

A vigorous shake will also help restore the soft, fluffy appearance of the wool. Any fold marks from packaging will disappear once the lambskin has been removed from the package for several days.

Due to the natural lanolin in the wool, genuine lambskin tends to be self-cleaning. Daily airing will keep the sheepskin fresh and help maintain its self-cleaning properties. Small lightly soiled areas can be sponged off and towel dried where necessary.

General Genuine Lambskin Products Care Instructions

Our genuine lambskin products can be easily hand or machine-washed. It is important not to use hot water when washing your genuine lambskin products as this may damage the pelt of the lambskin.

Hand Washing

Use a mild liquid household detergent in cold or warm water (max 40ºC/108ºF). Do not use soap or washing powders containing enzymes or bleach, or which are alkaline. Do not use fabric softeners. Rinse thoroughly in warm water.
We recommend biodegradable soaps and Lanolin based wash products.

Machine Washing

Use the 'wool wash' cycle on your washing machine and wash in warm water (max 40ºC/108ºF). Use a mild liquid detergent suitable for washing machines. Do not use soap or washing powders containing enzymes or bleach, or which are alkaline.

Drying

Dry flat or on a line and stretch to shape while damp. It can be put outside in sunlight while drying or airing.

Brushing

After washing, the wool may revert back to its natural curly state. You can help restore the fluffy appearance by brushing the wool while it is wet and again when it is dry. A pet wire brush or comb is suitable.

Storage

Should you wish to store your genuine lambskin products at any time, place it in a cool airy place. Packaging in plastic bags for an extended period of time is not recommended as the lambskin fibres will not breathe and condensation may occur in warm conditions.
